The ever-changing impressions of the sea evoke various imaginations and stories within me. I envision the process from the droplets in the sky turning into seawater and reaching me, intertwined myths and tales associated with the sea, and the myriad memories entangled with it. Against a backdrop of blue, I delicately sketch the rhythm and harmony of flames and waves with monochromatic ink. "Esquisse, Symphony" is inspired by Debussy's "La Mer: 3 Esquisses Symphoniques." Debussy composed "La Mer" after being inspired by Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa." It's a painterly expression of moments created as musical elements clash, merge, and disperse like waves. Divided into three movements: "From Dawn to Noon on the Sea," "Play of Waves," and "Dialogue Between the Wind and the Sea," it depicts the sea's changes from the dimness of dawn to the sparkling waves under sunlight, and the turbulent yet serene sea before and after a storm.시시각각 변하는 바다의 인상에서 다양한 상상과 이야기를 떠올리게 된다. 하늘의 물방울에서 바닷물이 되어 나에게 오기까지의 과정, 바다에 얽힌 신화와 이야기, 바다와 얽힌 사사로운 추억이 중첩되는 것이다. 푸른 바탕에 무채색 유채로 소묘(Esquisse)하듯 불꽃과 파도의 리듬, 화음(Symphony)을 그린다. ‘에스키스, 심포니’는 드뷔시의 <바다: 3개의 교향적 소묘 (La Mer: 3 Esquisses Symphoniques)>에서 착안한 제목이다. 드뷔시는 호쿠사이의 ‘파도’를 본 후 영향을 받아 <바다>를 작곡했다. 음악 요소들이 파도처럼 부딪히고 융합하며 다시 흩어지며 만들어낸 순간의 인상을 만들어내는 과정으로서의 회화적 표현이다. ‘바다 위의 새벽부터 정오까지’, ‘파도의 유희’, ‘바람과 바다의 대화’ 총 3곡으로 구성되어 있다. 새벽의 어스름에서부터 해가 뜨기까지의 바다의 변화, 햇빛을 받아 반짝거리는 물결, 폭풍우 전후의 거칠면서도 잔잔한 바다가 묘사된다. paper
