불꽃놀이의 몽상
2020 - 2022 As we set off fireworks on the beach, igniting and witnessing their inception and conclusion, we find ourselves immersed in the beauty of the flames, sparking various imaginations beyond the fiery display. Surrounded by the beautiful light of the flames, one makes wishes or commemorates a moment. Fireworks are a ritual of sharing a moment, as it involves the act of being together with someone. It is an act of shining a moment with someone else, allowing us to reflect on the past, remember the present, and imagine the future beyond the burning flame.
 바닷가에서 폭죽을 심고 불을 붙이며 그것의 시작과 끝을 감상하는 가운데, 불꽃 너머로 서로 다른 상상을 하게 된다. 불꽃의 아름다운 빛에 싸여 무엇인가를 기원하거나 순간을 기념한다. 불꽃놀이는 누군가와 함께하는 행위라는 점에서 순간을 공유하는 의식이다. 그것은 다른 누군가와 함께 순간을 빛내는 행위로, 타오르는 불꽃 너머로 과거를 되새기거나 현재를 기억하고, 미래를 상상하게 한다.

Sparkler
Sparkler is a common object in everyday life—small, inexpensive fireworks that almost everyone has ignited at least once. With its size and short duration, it’s controllable and predictable. It ensures safety for those who gaze upon them. In the cocoon of reassurance, one can witness the beginning and end of the flames, relishing in the most beautiful fleeting moments. Sparkler invites visions beyond the flames. Memories of moments by the seaside or the faces of friends and loved ones may come to mind. This reflects the ordinary yet universal nature of everyday recollections. The allure of sparkler lies in the transient thrill and joy that flare and disappear with the flames. However, I sought to encapsulate the pinnacle of the moment as the sparkler burns through my artwork. When the moment becomes eternal within the artwork, an apparition blooms within the flames, and imagination takes flight.
스파클라
스파클라는 일상에서 흔히 볼 수 있으며 누구라도 한 번쯤 불을 붙여 보았을만한 작고 값싼 폭죽이다. 작은 크기와 짧은 지속 시간으로 통제와 예측이 가능하여, 바라보는 이에게 안전함을 보장한다. 안도 속에서 타오르는 불꽃의 시작과 끝을 온전히 바라보고, 가장 아름다운 한순간을 누리게 한다. 스파클라는 불꽃 너머로 환영을 보게 한다. 바닷가에서의 한 때와 친구 또는 연인의 얼굴이 떠오르기도 한다. 이는 일상의 사사로운 기억이자 보편적인 경험이다. 스파클라의 환영은 불꽃과 함께 짧은 순간 타오르고 사라지는 찰나의 감동과 기쁨을 의미한다. 그러나 나는 스파클라를 그림으로써 불꽃이 타오르는 절정의 순간을 작품 속에 붙잡아보았다. 순간이 작품 속에서 영원할 때, 불꽃 속에서 환영이 피어나며 상상이 시작된다.
